LiDAR 101 – 6/27/12 (Past Event)

Chuck Boyer, Director of Business Development (Aerial Services)

This primer on Light Imaging Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) will discuss how it has become a common tool used in mapping and is being dispatched to complete more and more projects. The talk will help you understand what this technology is, how it works, and what it can be used for. Through this brief but informative presentation, we’ll get you up-to-date on LiDAR technology, discuss “waveform technology”, and its ability to offer acquisition of digital elevation data for large-scale mapping projects. We’ll also discuss how LiDAR can work alongside traditional aerial photography and photogrammetric techniques – making it even more powerful.
